MG ZS EV SUV arriving soon!

MG India is all set to announce pricing and launch the much awaited update for the ZS EV SUV on the 7th of March, 2022. The update for the ZS will bring with it cosmetic updates making the car look smarter, along with a larger battery pack to boost the existing range. Bookings for the updated car have begun, with deliveries scheduled in the coming weeks.

Updates: The ZS EV update will bring with it an updated face more in line with the current global model. The facelift was revealed in October, 2021 and showcased new LED daytime running lamp signatures and LED tail-lamps, for instance, are identical to that of the Astor.

The ZS EV will also feature some EV-specific design features with a new body-coloured, blanked-off frontal section that replaces the traditional grille. The charging port now moves from behind the MG logo to the side in the grille, neatly hidden. The front and rear bumpers are new for the ZS EV and get sporty details. It also gets a fresh design for the 17-inch alloy wheels.

Interior Updates: The interior of the ZS EV is not as heavily revised as the exterior. It does get a new faux carbon-fibre trim around the dashboard. The climate control buttons have also been revised and are now similar to those in the Astor.

Equipment: The ZS EV now gets a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, in place of the older 8.0-inch unit, and a new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster replacing the analogue dials. Additionally, it also gets ADAS functionality and a 360-degree camera. For the ADAS system, the ZS EV uses a similar camera and radar set-up as on the Astor.

Powertrain: The ZS EV features a fresh powertrain featuring a larger 51kWh unit, which will result in increased driving range over the older 44.5kWh one. The ZS EV continues to be powered by a front-axle-mounted electric motor that produces 143hp and 353Nm, which means power and torque figures will be identical to the outgoing model.

Competition Check: The MG ZS EV is priced at a premium over the Tata Nexon EV, however the Tata is also set to receive a larger battery pack as well. This larger battery pack will close the existing gap between the MG and Tata in terms of performance and price. The Hyundai Kona will also rub shoulders with the ZS EV but will be priced higher.
