After staying missing from one of the best selling segments, Jeep India is rumoured to be entering it soon. Renders show it to be a scaled down version of the sales king Compass with traditional Jeep design traits.
The Hyundai Venue with sister Kia Sonet has long ruled this segment. But they lack what could possibly make the Jeep sell like hot cakes, 4WD.
Scheduled to be based on the PSA CMP (Common Modular Platform), the sub 4 meter SUV will be heavily localised as well. This will ensure easier to source spare parts, killer pricing and lower waiting periods. It will share its platform with the soon to be launched Citroen CSUV as well.
While the car has not been launched yet, renders showcase it to wear the signature 7 slat grille. LED headlamps with LED DRLs, black cladding, alloy wheels and LED taillamps will also most likely be part of the package.
Estimated to start at the 10 lakh rupee mark, this will be the most affordable Jeep in the lineup. It will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue. The Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon also fight in this segment. Neither of them however offer AWD at the moment, which the Jeep is rumoured to feature.
