After a year of strength, resilience, and darkness, we emerged once again to light up the streets of Mumbai with cars the whole world dreams about.
The pandemic ensured that all the vehicles belonging to the T97 crew stayed indoors and were not spotted for several months together.
However, with restrictions eased, permissions, and norms in place we drove towards the light at the end of the tunnel on the 26th of January, 2021, and held the largest ever T97 Republic Day Celebrations.
6:00 am in Mumbai on 26/01/2021, irrespective of where you were, noticed a rise in decibel levels with cars from the whole city and some even from neighboring states fired up their motors and started their journey towards the first leg of the convoy route.
BKC, being a commercial location usually sees a drop in activity over public holidays, however, this time around it served as a playground for the cars or should I say skittles from all over the city making their way there in wilder colors than the one which entered the parking lot before it.
This year, however, RDC wasn’t only about performance vehicles but also included older classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles along with other brands such as Mini with the original Cooper and Jaguar with the E Type who had some stellar examples from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s out and about alongside the modern Ferrari 488 Pista and Lamborghini Huracan.
A traffic jam one would not mind being stuck in, BKC soon saw lines of cars waiting to enter the selected parking lot. With the cars lined up, owners interacting, and crowds building, it was soon 8:00 am, which was selected as the exit time towards the next leg of the journey towards Raymond’s Ground in Thane.
